Robert E. Lee, who was considered to be the greatest soldier fighting for the Confederate States of America, descended from a long line of famous heroes. Many of Lees ancestors played important roles in Americas history. His father was a Revolutionary War hero and a friend of George Washington. He was often referred to as Light Horse Harry Lee. Lee was born on January 19, 1807 in Stratford, Virginia. Lee always admired Washington, and was his hero as a youngster. Young Lee decided to become a soldier, partly because of the military tradition of his family. Lee enrolled in West Point Military Academy and graduated 2nd in his class in 1829. Finally the confederacys president, Jefferson Davis, sent him to stop Union foes coming in from Western Virginia. He failed and was reassigned to building coastal fortifications in South Carolina and Georgia. Lee was called back to Richmond in 1862 and appointed by president Jefferson Davis to be the chief commander of all Confederate forces. Although his name sounded powerful, it was actually very pathetic. President Davis took the matters into his own hands, and only allowed Lee to interfere in small decisions of the war. Soon after Lee was appointed, a large Union force had approached the gates of Richmond, and he was sent to stop the penetration of union forces. Lee arrived in Richmond in June of 1862. The Union army was under the command of General McClellan, and was only a few miles away from the city along the Chick hominy River. Lee had decided to destroy the smaller group of union forces guarding the north side of the river, and push the rest back from there. Lee also took a great risk by only leaving a small portion of his army guarding the gates of the city. Anyway, Lee was successful in pushing the union forces back 25 miles in the next 7 days. She knew, then, that it had not been hatred that had made him avoid her for so long. No, it had not been hatred at all. Elena had no idea how much later it was that they quietly went down the stairs of the boarding house. At any other time, she would have been thrilled to get into Stefan’s sleek black car, but tonight she scarcely noticed it. He held her hand as they drove through the deserted streets. The first thing Elena saw as they approached her house was the lights. â€Å"It’s the police,† she said, finding her voice with some difficulty. It was odd to talk after being silent so long. â€Å"And that’s Robert’s car in the driveway, and there’s Matt’s,† she said. She wished with all her heart that she and Stefan could just be alone together, that they would never need to face the world. But there was no help for it. They walked up the pathway to the door, which was open. Inside, the house was a blaze of lights. Entering, Elena saw what seemed like dozens of faces turned toward her. She had a sudden vision of what she must look like, standing there in the doorway in the sweeping black velvet cloak, with Stefan Salvatore at her side. And then Aunt Judith gave a cry and was holding her in her arms, shaking her and hugging her all at once. â€Å"Elena! Oh, thank God you’re safe. But where have you been? And why didn’t you call? Do you realize what you’ve put everyone through?† Elena stared around the room in bewilderment. But then why are the police here?† Elena edged toward Stefan instinctively, and she felt him move closer to her in protection. â€Å"They’re here because Vickie Bennett was attacked in the cemetery tonight,† said Matt. And when we got her back here, the doctor said he couldn’t find anything conclusive. She wasn’t really hurt except for the scratches, and they could have been from a cat.† â€Å"There were no other marks on her?† said Stefan sharply. It was the first time he’d spoken since entering the house, and Elena looked at him, surprised by his tone. â€Å"No,† said Meredith. â€Å"Of course, a cat didn’t tear her clothes off-but Dick might have. Oh, and her tongue was bitten.† â€Å"What?† said Elena. â€Å"Badly bitten, I mean. It must have bled a lot, and it hurts her to talk now.† Beside Elena, Stefan had gone very still. â€Å"Did she have any explanation for what happened?† â€Å"She was hysterical,† Matt said. â€Å"Really hysterical; she wasn’t making any sense. She kept babbling about eyes and dark mist and not being able to run-which is why the doctor thinks maybe it was some sort of hallucination. But as far as anyone can make out, the facts are that she and Dick Carter were in the ruined church by the cemetery at about midnight, and that something came in and attacked her there.† Bonnie added, â€Å"It didn’t attack Dick, which at least shows it had, some taste. We are not justified by any inherent reason goodness of our faith as our faith earns no favor with God. Faith is the determining factor in which the obtaining of justification is possible. There is a reason why God chooses faith as the vehicle on the road to justification. Faith in the true and living God and the sacrifice of Christ is the one thing that will keep one from depending on oneself. When we come to Christ in a total dependency upon him, it is a total act of submission to the ways and the will of God. It is to say that one is totally and whole heartedly dependent upon God solely. Jesus gives one a righteous standing before God. Faith is the  [3]  opposite of self-reliance and is a declaration in the hearts and minds of those who are covered under grace. One has to have an attitude that is in alignment with thankful adoration for Gods unmerited favorable choice. The doctrinal implication of justification by faith is of upmost importance to salvation. This not only gives one hope within them, but it is a testimony to others who may be at the cross roads of unbelief. Life in Christ has an eternal cognitive. One who ministers Christ to another must attest an accurate depiction of the total submission and reliance upon what a life of faith looks like from an eternal view. When you are justified, you dont have to worry about God taking out vengeance out on ones past sins. As we come before the Lord, we shall hear not guilty as a result of the devils accusations. In conclusion, one has to be confident in Gods declaring a not guilty plea upon their lives. We are justified by faith in Christs unselfish sacrifice in which gives us a pardon from our past sins. There is therefore no condemnation in those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:31). We can now live a life free of the guilt and stain of our sins. Gods unmerited favor is what allows us to be covered by the blood of Jesus. Christ made a sacrifice to justify.

Human Rights Abuse on the U.S.-Mexican Border Between 1993-97 there was a 72% increase in funds provided to the Immigration and Naturalization Services. The INS has a mobile uniformed division responsible for policing the US-Mexican border called Border Patrol. With such a dramatic increase in just four years it is obvious that the border area is a pressing concern to the US government. The Border Patrol conducts inspections of travelers, regulates permanent and temporary immigration into the United States and maintains control of the US borders, which amount to 8,000 miles. They also identify and remove persons who have no lawful immigration status in the United States. The border patrol works hand-in-hand with the INS to ensure that immigration policies are followed under United States law. There is an estimated 7,000 Border Patrol agents, all are armed and have the power to stop and inspect whoever they please. The agents are continuously questioned on their conduct in how they perform their job. The majority of the qu estions come from human rights activists. These agents are enforcing US law on individuals attempting to enter the country but are the human rights of these individuals being violated? The topic of human rights is a major issue on the border and there is growing evidence to support the fact that human rights are being abused.
